MyAir by Advantage Air is a third-party zone controller that takes place of the proprietary brand wall controller. It taps into the unit, taking control over the temperature, fan speed and mode. It has timers that enable the unit to turn on/off at the appropriate times. It also has a function called ‘Events’ which doesn’t only look at times and days but also looks at the temperature in your postcode. This allows you to set events that take this extra information into account. Whilst there is clear and sunny weather, you can take advantage of the solar power you’re producing. Or have it start earlier depending on the outside temperature in the early hours of the morning or have it set to start cooling the house earlier if it’s a really hot day, so your home is comfortable when you get home.
The MyAir system can control many brands such as Daikin and Daikin VRV, LG and LG VRF, Mitsubishi and Mitsubishi VRF, Fujitsu, Panasonic etc) so it is extremely flexible. The MyAir system has an 8” touch screen tablet (optional 10” tablet which is larger with more internal memory) that is hard wired to the control box, which is connected to the indoor unit. The tablet is connected to your home network via Wi-Fi.
This is a full functioning android tablet that supports any app available from the Google Play Store. Have it installed in your kitchen and add “Any List” to keep your shopping list in order. You can “YouTube” your favourite chef whilst cooking or add the “Ring” doorbell app to see who’s at your front door or simply just keep up to date on Facebook.
Once connected to your home network, any devices on that network can now control the air conditioning system using the ‘MyPlace’ app anywhere in the world via voice or through the app that mimics the tablet at home. The MyAir also gives individuals control over each zone’s temperature when temperature sensors are fitted to the zones. The airflow is controlled by the variable opposed blade dampers that give finer airflow control and the ability to turn that zone on/off.
The MyPlace platform can be added on to give you full home automation including lighting, curtains, garage doors, pool pumps etc.
With 5 years warranty on parts and labour, you can feel confident in the brand unlike most other branded “zone controllers” that only offer 1-year ‘parts only’ warranty.
Wi-Fi
Most brands now give the ability to control their systems via Wi-Fi and an app on your phone. All that’s needed, in most cases, is the Wi-Fi module that connects to the system, giving you control from your smart phone and voice control, depending on the brand. Some brands now include Wi-Fi connection as a standard feature on their units such as the Daikin Zena wall mounted split system or the LG WH range of high efficiency, wall mounted systems. This area of increased control is ever evolving and continuously changing with Wi-Fi looking to become more of a standard feature on air conditioning units.
